Laminated Unlined Greyboard is a heavy-duty greyboard made by laminating layers of unlined chipboard together.
The layered construction allows the board to be supplied in much thicker gauges than standard single-ply greyboard.
It has an unlined grey surface, so it is usually chosen for structure, strength and bulk rather than visual presentation.
This makes it useful for applications where the board will be covered, wrapped, hidden inside a product, or used as a strong internal component.
The main benefit of Laminated Unlined Greyboard is its thickness and rigidity.
By bonding multiple layers together, the board can provide the stiffness needed for heavier-duty uses such as hardback book covers, rigid boxes, furniture components and protective industrial sheets.
It gives a solid feel and can help finished products keep their shape during handling, storage and use.
Because the surface is unlined, print quality is limited compared with white lined, coated or kraft lined boards.
It is usually better suited to wrapping, covering, gluing, laminating or internal construction rather than direct decorative print.
Laminated Unlined Greyboard is commonly used in the manufacture of furniture, beds, hardback books, presentation boxes, lever arch files, industrial packaging and heavy-duty layer sheets or interleaving sheets.
It works well where high thickness, stiffness and dimensional support are more important than surface finish.
Standard laminated unlined greyboard is not a moisture barrier or grease barrier.
It should be kept away from wet conditions unless a suitable coating, wrap or lining is added.
For best results, specify the board by thickness, sheet size, rigidity requirement, lamination quality, cutting method and whether the finished product will be wrapped, covered or used as an exposed board component.
