Kraft lined greyboard is a greyboard material faced with kraft paper.
The greyboard core gives the sheet its thickness, weight and rigidity, while the kraft liner provides the brown outer surface.
It is often used when businesses want a strong board with a natural, recycled-style finish.
The kraft face gives a cleaner and more consistent appearance than plain greyboard, while still keeping the practical strength of a greyboard base.
The main benefit of kraft lined greyboard is the balance between stiffness, durability and natural presentation.
It has enough rigidity for packaging components, backing boards, dividers and presentation products where the board needs to stay flat and feel solid.
The kraft surface is suitable for simple branding, labels, stamps, single-colour print and unprinted packaging.
Because the surface is brown, bright colours and detailed artwork will not look as sharp as they would on white lined or coated board.
For many packaging jobs, that is not a problem.
The kraft finish is often chosen because it looks practical, understated and less processed.
Kraft lined greyboard is commonly used for board envelopes, backing boards, folders, cartons, dividers, postal packaging, craft products and recycled-look presentation packaging.
It works well where the packaging needs structure, but does not need a glossy white print surface.
It is not designed as a barrier board.
Standard kraft lined greyboard should not be used for wet, greasy or oily products unless a suitable coating or lining has been added.
It should also not be assumed suitable for direct food contact unless the exact grade has been confirmed for that use.
For best results, specify the board by thickness, sheet size, kraft surface requirement, print method and the level of stiffness needed for the finished product.
