Coated White Lined Greyboard is a fully coated white lined chipboard with a grey back.
It has a smooth white coated face for print, with a greyboard reverse that gives the sheet stiffness and structure.
The greyboard core is commonly made using recycled fibre, while the white coated face gives a cleaner surface for graphics, branding and carton work.
This grade is currently available from 375 microns / 300gsm to 615 microns / 450gsm, with water-resistant and FSC® grades available.
The main benefit of Coated White Lined Greyboard is its printable white surface.
The coating helps create a smoother, brighter face than uncoated greyboard, making it better suited to printed packaging, cartons, sleeves and display-style work.
It is commonly used where the front of the pack needs clear print, but the reverse side does not need to be white.
The grey back helps keep the board economical compared with white-backed cartonboard, while still giving enough stiffness for many general packaging jobs.
Print performance is usually good on the coated face, especially for standard carton print and simple branded packaging.
The grey reverse is less suitable for detailed print or colour-critical work, so artwork is usually placed on the white coated side.
Coated White Lined Greyboard is used mainly in the printing industry and general carton work.
Common uses include folding cartons, sleeves, backing cards, retail packaging, lightweight product boxes, display pieces and printed packaging components.
It works well where the pack needs a clean printed outer face and a practical grey reverse.
Some grades may be available with water-resistant properties, but this should be checked against the exact stock grade and end use.
Standard Coated White Lined Greyboard should not be assumed suitable for direct food contact, chilled storage, wet products or grease exposure unless the specific grade has been supplied for that purpose.
For best results, specify by thickness, grammage, print method, folding requirements, moisture exposure and whether FSC® certification is needed.
